AmeriHealth Caritas Foundation Makes Up to $2 Million Available in 2026 Grants to Help Prevent Adverse Childhood Experiences

- Newtown Square, PA

Nonprofits in Eight States and Washington, D.C. Can Submit Letters of Intent by May 13

The AmeriHealth Caritas Foundation is making up to $2 million available in 2026 to support nonprofit programs that improve children’s health and strengthen family resilience.

Grants will range from $100,000 to $150,000 for one-year project-specific work. The application window will open April 13.

Nonprofits with revenue between $300,000 and $10 million and operating in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Louisiana, Michigan, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina are eligible to apply.

The first step for interested nonprofits is to submit a short letter of intent (LOI) through GrantsConnect by May 13.

Based on those LOIs, the Foundation will invite select organizations to submit a full proposal with additional program and budget details. The Foundation will announce final grant recipients in October.

Since its founding, the Foundation has awarded more than $6.4 million in grants, prioritizing projects that support empowering families, healing behaviors, and access to health care.

Through these focus areas, the Foundation aims to help prevent and mitigate adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and strengthen protective factors, the positive experiences and supports that help children and families build resilience.

ACEs are potentially traumatic events and circumstances that occur before age 18 and can affect health and well-being later in life.

“Our goal is to invest in organizations that are close to the communities they serve and have a clear plan for what they can accomplish in a one-year project,” said Lauren Maloney, director of the AmeriHealth Caritas Foundation. “This funding is built to help nonprofits put proven, community-rooted ideas into action in ways that deliver real-world support for families.”

Previous Foundation grantees include Children Trust Michigan, which used funding to train prevention partners in the Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences (HOPE) Framework.

“Through the support of the AmeriHealth Caritas Foundation, there are now 13 new HOPE Champions across Michigan,” said Suzanne Greenberg, executive director of Children Trust Michigan. “They are helping their organizations and communities embrace the possibilities of prevention and inspiring meaningful change by building positive experiences that shape brighter futures.”
